  1. How do I register to vote?

In the State of Virginia you need to meet certain requirements to register to vote.

These requirements include:

  • Have a valid Virginia DMV driver's license or state ID card.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be a resident of Virginia.
  • Be 18 years old on or before the next general election (if you are 17, you can still register and vote in elections if you will be 18 on or before the next general election).
  • Not currently convicted of a felony or judged as mentally incapacitated and disqualified to vote.

4. I'm registered to vote, now where do I go to actually vote on November 5th?

5. I'm a registered voter in Virginia but I won't be in town during the election or near my polling place. What do I do?

If you aren't going to be near your polling location this November, vote absentee! Absentee voting is a vote cast by a person who, because of absence from usual voting district, illness, or the like, has been permitted to vote by mail.
