ASM Advocacy is seeking ASM members to join us in Washington, D.C., on July 24 and 25 to meet with members of Congress about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) issues.
You don’t need prior experience engaging in advocacy. We will provide everything you need to be successful. The ASM advocacy team will support you every step of the way.
Participating in this event has big benefits for you, your lab and our scientific community.
Interested in Hill Day but not for AMR specifically? You should still apply! ASM is planning more Hill Days with different targeted subjects later this year, and we'll keep your application on file.
Have you or someone you know successfully brought science and policy together? The 2023 Brad Fenwick Fellowship will award $2,000 in recognition of an early career scientist with a successful record of connecting civic engagement and science. In addition to the financial award, fellows will work with ASM Advocacy staff to develop a deeper understanding of civic engagement and public policy.
Applicants must be graduate students or within 5 years of receiving an advanced degree. Please submit a 250-500 word description of the applicant's accomplishments in connecting civics and science to be considered for the award to advocacy@asmusa.org. The application may also include a recommendation from someone who knows the applicant in a supervisory capacity and can speak to that person's ability to engage in advocacy related activities. The fellowship will be awarded at ASM Microbe 2023 in Houston, TX.
