Housing Families First

Housing Families First provides families experiencing homelessness with the tools to find permanent housing and ensures that each family has access to supportive services that help them maintain long-term housing stability.

Help the Homeless fundraised over $200 to assist children experiencing homelessness with affording school supplies. Because we believe education is such a powerful tool to eradicate poverty in the future generations, we wanted to increase the opportunity for a child's to receive a quality education.

The key to unlocking homelessness is using a holistic approach, which includes emergency shelters for families and single adult men, transitional housing for Veterans, and permanent supportive housing for families impacted by disability.

One of the biggest ways Help the Homeless is safely giving back to the community in the times of COVID-19 is through virtual tutoring and virtual professional skills workshops. During the academic year, VCU students can volunteer to tutor a student or adult experiencing homelessness in a variety of subjects and professional areas including resume revisions, personal statement workshops, and email etiquette.
