Mission
Amendment is a student-run-and-operated publishing organization at VCU whose purpose is to publish VCU student-made literature, art and multimedia pieces and works that discuss or present topical social issues. Amendment will strive to:

• Provoke thoughtful conversation and inspire artists to develop conscientiousness and self-expression regarding issues of gender, sexuality, race, class, power and ability through diverse approaches and genres.

• Extend and expand publishing opportunities for emerging artists who are VCU students.

• Provide a forum for students to continue their personal research and participate in open dialogue.

Amendment is supported through the Student Media Center in the Division of Student Affairs. Operations and content are determined exclusively by student editors and managers.

The purpose of Pwatem shall be as follows:
• To provide a means of creative expression and improvement in the literary arts
• To provide Virginia Commonwealth University students a forum for publishing accomplishments in the fields of poetry, prose, creative non-fiction, drama, and art
• To promote a fusion of creative vehicles – in particular to exemplify how the visual arts compliment the written word, and to foster a working relationship between editors and artists.

Dedicated to the support and encouragement of responsible, independent student media organizations that connects, explores and enriches the lives of the university's many constituencies. We operate on a model of individual responsibility and professional standards instead of censorship and administrative control. We promote the values of integrity, tenacity, creativity and honesty in the pursuit of excellence.

The Commonwealth Times is the editorially independent student newspaper published since 1969.

In serving the VCU student population, The CT will strive to cover events and administrative actions that pertain to the university and Richmond communities.
The CT will strive to cover a wide variety of events, activities and issues that portray an accurate image of the university and Richmond communities.
The CT will strive to ensure that marginalized and minority communities are properly and adequately represented in its coverage, and will maintain an inclusive community internally.
