Weeks of Welcome Event Planning Info for VCU Faculty, Staff and Community Partners
The Weeks of Welcome 2020 Planning Committee invites faculty, staff and community partners to host events during this annual university-wide effort. Weeks of Welcome encourages new students to become connected to the campus community and returning students to renew and enhance campus connections.
The purpose of Weeks of Welcome is to offer ongoing opportunities for VCU students to engage with peers, faculty, staff, and resources to foster a sense of belonging and increase awareness of tools for success. Weeks of Welcome provides access to tools and resources that support student success; promotes opportunities that foster a sense of self and belonging; and, offers opportunities for students to engage and get involved.
This year, Weeks of Welcome will take place between Sunday, August 16 and Saturday, September 12.
All VCU units and departments are invited to promote programs, events, resources and opportunities during Weeks of Welcome. If you would like to learn more, please email us at email@example.com.
When your department or unit has information about a specific event or program ready, please share the information with us using this event form. Ideally, we would like to receive event forms by July 15. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns.
This year all Weeks of Welcome events will be promoted on the RamsConnect.vcu.edu platform and App. Our committee will reach out to all event and program hosts with updates and resources. If your department is interested in establishing a (free) RamsConnect group, please use this form. Each RamsConnect group has dedicated access to resources such as a website builder, graphic email marketing, member and contact management, and more.
When considering planning an event, please keep in mind the current OneVCU:Responsible Together guidelines. During these unprecedented times it is important to keep the VCU community safe and healthy. Your events may have to have limited attendance or go virtual, here are some resources to use: VCU Zoom Blog and Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence VCU. These VCU Virtual Events might provide some ideas for planning virtual events.
.We strongly encourage event hosts to complete the Weeks of Welcome Event Submission Form by Wednesday, July 15; however, submissions will still be accepted and reviewed after that date.
