Tl;dr: Game Night next Thursday 5-7pm in Snead Hall room B2125. Lots of upcoming events- see our website for more. And for underclassmen in particular, check out CLEP exams as a way to save time AND money getting your degree!
Hi guys!
Did you enjoy your Valentine’s Day? We sure are ready to load up on some discount candy! So glad we got to see all of you at the last meeting; it was great hearing Professor Day talk about the VCU Center for Economic Education and some of what he does.
We’re trying something a little different for our next meeting- we’re hosting a game night! SEA member (and secretary of BIZ STARS), Connor Cahill, has graciously offered to bring in some board games and we’re all very excited! This meeting wouldn’t be happening without your suggestions (and Connor’s games!)- we’re working hard to incorporate even more of your suggestions into meetings this semester!
This meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23 from 5-7pm in Snead Hall room B2125. By no means do you have to stay the entire time, but we’d be glad to have you for as long as you’re able! There will also be a few chances to win a T-shirt, so make sure you stop on by! If interested, you can RSVP to the event at the link here.
And don't forget to submit your nomination for the 2022-23 VCU Economics Distinguished Service Award by Feb 20. Self nominations are accepted!
Happening tonight:
The University of Richmond welcomes Alex Tabarrok, Bartley J. Madden Economics Chair and professor at the Mercatus Center at George Mason, as part of the 2022-23 Jepson Leadership Forum. Dr. Tabarrok will be speaking on the U.S. COVID-19 Response. Attendance is free and the event starts at 7pm! Register here.
Important Information for Underclassmen:
Do you still have required classes to get out of the way? The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) offers exams at a fraction of the price of a college course, potentially saving you hundreds of dollars. It’s basic economics! You can thank Yvonne Nguyen for sharing this resource- and if you go through Modern States you can even get the exams paid for!
Here's a little joke to get your spirits up: What do economists and plumbers have in common? (They both deal with gross domestic product!)
As always, feel free to reach out to us at The.Econ.Club@gmail.com. Have a fantastic week everyone!
Best,
VCU SEA
