The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is proud to bring to campus Hazing Prevention: Breaking the Cycle. Dr. Jarrod Benjamin is the Senior Principal Consultant for the L.E.A.D. Firm. He specializes in various programmatic areas: hazing prevention, student development, and curriculum development, student success framework design. He has recently published a #1 Amazon New Release, The Comprehensive Student Leadership Guide. He completed his PhD in Urban Higher Education Program from Jackson State University. He has partnered with more than 200 colleges and universities on leadership training and programming for faculty, staff, and students.

Would your organization like to host a voter registration drive? Do it! All org members who’d like to volunteer must complete voter registration drive training through the Virginia Board of Elections. 

Encourage your membership to get prepared for the upcoming election! Students are able to register to vote and identify their polling location online through this link. This link has the option to apply to vote absentee for Virginia voters. For out of state voters, the VCU Votes student fellows encourage students to visit this site. If you have questions or need additional information, contact Kelsey Jones at jonesk66@vcu.edu.

Speaker and performer applications are now open!

TEDxVCU is seeking a diverse lineup of speakers from the VCU community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. This is a unique opportunity to share innovative and well-formed ideas with VCU and the world. Learn more about becoming a speaker here: Speaking and Performing at TEDxVCU. DSA Finance Updates

Please note, as stated in the 2024-2025 Student Organization Finance Training, all submitted reimbursement requests must follow the following rules:

1. Reimbursements are exclusively available for food/beverage and/or travel expenses.
2. The subtotal of the reimbursement request must exceed $25.00.
3. The reimbursement request must be submitted in RAMorgs within five days of the purchase being made.

Please do not purchase anything outside of these guidelines, and expect to be compensated for your payment.

Commons Event Services Updates

New Check-in System for events and meetings in The Commons!

When you arrive for your event in The Commons, first stop by the Information Center on the 1st floor and Check in for your event. The Organization member who checks in should be the first or day of contact on the Facility Use agreement, so be sure to update that contact information with your event coordinator. 

Once you have checked in, an Operations team member will unlock the door and ensure your room is set as needed. 

You may check in up to 10 minutes before your reservation starts. 

Student Activity Fee Funding

The Division of Student Affairs invites all student org leaders to learn more about their Student Activity Funds and the many programs and resources they support. Check out their new website, Support Fully Funding Your Student Activity Fee, for more details and ways to provide your feedback!  Students  Student org leaders are also invited to share their feedback at an upcoming SGA Town Hall meeting on Oct. 21.

Is your student organization interested in partnering with the Red Cross to host a blood drive on or near the MPC or MCV campuses? The Red Cross can guide you through the process of planning, marketing and coordinating volunteers to help facilitate a drive. This is a simple way to host a campus accessible service project for your org. For more information on partnering to host a drive, contact Christine Homan at christine.homan@redcross.org.
