10/09/2025
Welcome back to another edition of our Student Leader Newsletter! 🎉 We’re excited to kick off another month of growth, connection, and leadership on campus. In this issue, you’ll find updates, opportunities, and inspiration to help you make an impact in your organizations and beyond. Here’s to leading with purpose and creating meaningful change together!
Important Information Regarding Student Organization Tabling on the Compass
As outlined in the Interim Campus Expression Policy, “Student Organizations may reserve a designated location near the edge of the Compass for tabling consistent with the Commons requirements for tabling, including a limit of two members of the Student Organization present at the table.” The university has designated three locations on the edge of the Compass for student organizations to table indicated on the map below: Compass 1, Hibbs side, located next to Hibbs Hall; Compass 2, Shafer side, located near Shafer Dining Hall; and Compass 3, Lawn side, located near the Cabell lawn.
To assist Student Organizations in identifying these tabling locations, signs have recently been installed on lampposts near each designated location. Please refer to the signs as you are setting up your tabling location.
Student Organizations with a tabling reservation that are set up in locations other than their assigned space will be asked to relocate. Student Organizations that table on the Compass without a reservation will be asked to take down their table and make a future reservation through EMS as noted in the Student Organization Handbook: “All student organization activities, meaning activities organized by a student organization, using university property, including indoor and outdoor areas, require reservations. Any activity planned by an officially recognized student organization must go through the event request process. This requirement ensures the university is aware of the event details, can coordinate necessary support, and can confirm the activity aligns with applicable policies and space use guidelines.”If students would like to make a same day reservation they can reserve Park Plaza using the form linked here and located on the RamVoice webpage .
We look forward to continuing to support your student organizations' success, and so please direct any questions to the Student Organizations team at studentorgs@vcu.edu or the The Commons Scheduling team at uscaevent@vcu.edu.
Dear Student Organization Presidents and Treasurers,
Please note, the maximum for a request is $750. We encourage all registered student organizations to prepare in advance and submit applications early to ensure a smooth review process.

This program is more than just another event. It’s about strengthening our community. Together, we will:
Deepen our understanding of hazing prevention and how to recognize it,
Explore strategies for making safe, ethical choices, and
Grow as leaders who influence our organizations and peers in positive, lasting ways.
Your presence is essential. By attending, you are committing to fostering a culture of respect, safety, and accountability within your organizations.Thank you for prioritizing this important opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there.
