Dear VCU Student Organizations,
Thank you for your patience while the VCU SGA Appropriations Committee reviewed the Annual, Semester, and Special Circumstances funding requests. The committee received a total of 386 requests for the Annual, Semester, and Special Circumstances funding requests which totaled over $436,000.00 and included both Undergraduate and Graduate and Professional student organizations.
The committee completed the review of all Annual, Semester, and Special Circumstances funding requests submitted prior to the Fall 19 deadline and hoped to approve the max amount possible for all student organizations. Please be mindful that the Appropriation Committee only has $227,000.00 to allocate for this fiscal year for all student organizations. We have allocated just over $200,000 so far this year.
The VCU SGA Appropriations funding model allows for all eligible student organizations to have equitable access to funding. As long as the funding deadline is met, all eligible student organizations are considered for funding, regardless of the date and time the request was submitted.
Unfortunately, we had to make some tough decisions and were not able to allocate at the level student organization requested. We encourage student organizations to reach out to departments, sponsors, and national chapters to fundraise for the additional funds needed.
We will begin updating funding request statuses on Wednesday, August 14th, 2019 via RamsConnect. Any questions, comments, or concerns related to funding requests may be sent to SGAFunding@vcu.edu. All finance-related questions may be sent to the Student Organization Resource Centers (The Underground on the Monroe Park Campus and The Hub on the MCV campus), at studentorgs@vcu.edu.
The next deadline for funding requests is November 1, 2019, for Spring 2019 requests. Student organizations are encouraged to review the VCU SGA Appropriations Bylaws located here.
VCU SGA believes in Empowering the Students. Thus, if you have any concerns, please contact Senators and Delegates who can be located in the Student Government Association's Office. The VCU SGA Offices are located on the Monroe Park Campus in Student Commons 119 and on the MCV Campus in Hunton Student Center 302 if you need assistance. You can also email student concerns, aside from appropriations, to SGA@vcu.edu.
Sincerely,
Xaneya Arroyo
