WELCOME TO
IFC RECRUITMENT
Deferred Recruitment
Our deferred recruitment model requires you to earn at least 12 credits and have a 2.7 GPA before being eligible for membership. The model emphasizes your transition and acclimation to VCU and the academic environment on campus first. The earliest a freshman is eligible is during his second semester.
Fall Recruitment / Spring Recruitment
We host two formalized recruitment processes, both featuring the same structure.
Approximately 3 Days
Come learn what it means to be a member of IFC and a good fraternity man at our info sessions! Attendance is optional:
VCU COMMONS LOBBY
Monday 12th January
Tuesday 13th January
Wednesday 14th January
Approximately 3 Weeks
Three weeks of chapter-specific events, where you have the chance to visit fraternities you feel could potentially become home to meet brothers and learn more in-depth about the organizations. Towards the end of the week, some events may be invitation-only. Fraternities will hold interviews and decide who to invite into their brotherhood.
Feb 2nd, 7:00 PM, Commons Salons III
The day has arrived! If a PNM decides to accept their bid, they will participate in a formal signing ceremony. The ceremony is a public event, where fraternities await their new members signing their bid cards.
Welcome to Recruitment at Virginia Commonwealth University! Here at VCU, you will find countless opportunities to grow, lead, and get involved both on and off campus—and we hope you consider fraternity membership as one of the most impactful parts of your college experience. Joining a fraternity is more than just a decision for your four years in college—it’s a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, leadership, service, and excellence.
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at VCU is a community of diverse organizations dedicated to leadership development, academic success, philanthropy, and community service. Our men are actively engaged in campus life, serving in leadership positions, giving back to the Richmond community, and striving for personal and academic growth. Each chapter offers unique opportunities, but all share a commitment to building strong men of character who support one another in achieving success.
As you go through recruitment, we encourage you to approach this process with an open mind. Don’t just focus on the letters you see—focus on the people you meet, the values they live by, and the brotherhood they foster. Seek out a group of men who will challenge you, support you, and help you become the best version of yourself.
We hope you discover a fraternity experience that brings you lifelong friendships, meaningful opportunities, and a chance to leave a lasting impact at VCU. Deciding which fraternity to join can feel overwhelming, but the IFC Executive Board is here to answer your questions, guide you through the process, and ensure you find the chapter that feels like home.
We are excited that you are considering joining the Greek community at Virginia Commonwealth University, and we wish you the very best throughout recruitment and beyond!
In Brotherhood,
The Interfraternity Council at VCU
