What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxVCU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxVCU event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

Who are we?

TEDxVCU is a student-run organization supported by staff from VCU's University Student Commons and Activities department. As a university based TEDx event, we work to bring ideas worth spreading to our students, staff, faculty, and alumni through live speaking events, salons, and more.

Our speaking events bridge the gap between thought leaders, innovative performers, and passionate visual artists from the VCU community.

It's not a hair salon.

TEDxVCU Salons are intimate events guided by community leaders where VCU Rams come together to learn about, discuss, and interact with a globally relevant topic.

We believe that curating ideas from VCU Rams can spark inspiration and change in the futures of our team members, participants, and viewers.

Did you miss us?

Our 2024 Live Speaking Event, "Ripple," brought together 8 of VCU's brightest speakers, performers, and artists to spark insight and conversation that caused ripples in our community. The event took place over the course of two hours, and saw a turnout of over 100 VCU students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
