About Us

The Community Health Equity Outreach at VCU's mission is for those enrolled in the Exercise and Health Science Major (HPEX), to seek out and provide opportunities that address health disparities within the VCU and Richmond community, through volunteering in clinical settings, with local organizations, fundraising, and programming events throughout Richmond and VCU's campus. Through a student-led and organized club, HPEX students will be able to utilize their exercise and health science knowledge to address a variety of health inequities within the Richmond and VCU community. This will be conducted through volunteering and partnering with existing outreach programs (ex. Rams in Recovery, Ram Pantry, Blessing Warriors, etc.) and organizing planned programs, events, and fundraisers. If there is a subject health disparity (ex. food insecurity, resources for the homeless community, mental health educational programs, substance abuse disorder (SUD), etc.) that a member is especially interested in engaging with, the executive board will work with the member to discover and plan club events/opportunities that benefit the community.
