In respect to challenging the democracy owed to Black and Brown folks, the month of August holds a lot of weight. For this lecture, AJ Musewe is back to give us a look at moments that shifted the trajectory of the struggle for suffrage and the impacts felt to this day. We'll unpack the decision the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee made to go into voter registration, Fannie Lou Hamer's speech that shook President Lyndon B. Johnson, and highlight how Black women have always been at the center of our fight for freedom.
