Connect with Black & queer peers, through a menu of introspective questions and Jamaican cuisine! Attendees will connect with one another over guided conversation, and thereby tap into Audre Lorde's concept of "the erotic," which she describes as a source of joy, empowerment, and knowledge.

Please strive to arrive on-time and come hungry! Food and seating will be first come, first serve.

Black queer feminist writer Lorde delves into the concept of "the erotic" in her essay "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic As Power":

“The erotic is a measure between the beginnings of our sense of self and the chaos of our strongest feelings... The erotic functions...in providing the power which comes from sharing deeply any pursuit with another person. The sharing of joy, whether physical, emotional, psychic, or intellectual.”

"In touch with the erotic, I become less willing to accept powerlessness, or those other supplied states of being which are not native to me, such as resignation, despair, self-effacement, depression, self-denial."
